STEM Kits

Put your sTEM Skills in motion!

AWAF is proud to partner with Magicbit, a leading developer of hands-on STEM Kits, to bring workshops into schools and organizations across Michigan.

With a lesson plan curated specifically for the AWAF STEM Committee, students in grades 7 - 12 can learn the basics of coding for vehicle autonomy, including steering, signaling, vision and sensing, and more, in Python. Classrooms can select one or a series of lessons to be completed (each lesson takes ~ 1 hour).

  • 01 - Motor Maestro: Controlling Speed and Direction
  • 02 - Steering: Akerman steering, controlling servo, map wheel angle to servo angle (use POT)
  • 03 - Ultrasonic Shield: interfacing ultrasonic sensor, display distance on display, set threshold and buzzer tone
  • 04 - Name plate : display name , font size, positions, display image
  • 05 - Blinking Lights: Magicbit Controls LED Signals (neo pixel signal lights, warning lights, strobe lights, patterns)
  • 06 - Day/Night Vision: Automating Headlights with LDR, hi low beam, pot to control brightness
  • 07 - Buzzy Alerts: Sounding the Horn with Magicbit, music tone generations with buttons
  • 08 - obstable avoid robot
  • 09 - Wi-Fi control robot
  • 10 - Road Warrior: Building a Self-Driving Car with Magicbit Senses ( Wi-Fi control, abstacle avoid, signal lights)

These kits are a new offering!

As we trial this new program, AWAF is not able to offer kits for students or classrooms to keep at this time. Pending program success, we will consider expanding our inventory to allow classrooms to keep one or a handful of kits for continued learning and project ownership. We thank you for your understanding and your care in handling our Magicbit STEM Kits!
