How many members are there in AWAF?

We currently have more than 200 members.

Where are the members located geographically?

Our current members are mostly concentrated in southeastern Michigan. However, we accept members from all across the globe.

When did AWAF evolve?

AWAF was started over 20 years ago, and established as a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization in 2002.

What types of companies are represented in the membership?

Our members come from all areas of the automotive industry, and we welcome that diversity. We accept members who are in sales, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, distribution and more.

Are there sponsorships available?

We welcome corporate and individual sponsors to partner with us to support the ability to advance and empower women. Please contact us for more information on sponsorship or visit our sponsorship page.

What are the advantages of becoming a member?

There are many advantages to joining AWAF. Probably the two biggest advantages are the opportunity to meet women from all areas of the auto industry at all levels and share their knowledge, and the opportunity to support young women who want to join the auto industry.

Why join AWAF?

AWAF gives members the ability to work with and get to know some of the most powerful, influential men and women in the automotive industry that in normal everyday business one may not have the opportunity to meet. Your membership also supports our scholarship program that assists women who want to be or are already part of the automotive industry with their education and our STEM outreach programs to middle and high schools students that ecourage girls to consider a career in the automotive industry.

What types of events does AWAF offer?

Our events feature senior level women who share their experiences, knowledge and direction on industry subject matter.  Our events offer the opportunity to meet, greet and learn from women who have “made it” or are paving the way for others to be in significant automotive industry roles. In addition,  we offer professional development events that help woman with specific skills 

How often do you have events?

We have at least one event per quarter, these are in the winter, spring, summer and fall.  

How do members become involved in committees?

Our Coaching, Marketing, Programs/Events, Membership, Mentoring, Professional Development, Sponsorship and Golf committees welcome any additional members.  We also have ad hoc committees. Current ad hoc committees are Paid Board Positions and Diversity and Inclusion Talent Pipeline. Please contact us for more information. 

How diverse is the AWAF membership?

AWAF does not discriminate and there is a formal application process that is available. Our members include females and males from all aspects of the automotive industry; OEMs, Suppliers, Service Providers, Consultants, Retail Outlets, Industry Groups, etc.

What is AWAF’s mission?

The mission of the Automotive Women's Alliance Foundation is to advance and empower women in the automotive industry.

Does AWAF offer scholarships?

Yes, AWAF is dedicated to supporting women who are either in or entering into the automotive arena with scholarships. As of December 2020, we have awarded $484,500 in scholarships.
