AWAF STEM - HER Story

Let HER Story help shape your story
AWAF's HER Story program is a volunteer-based outreach program in which individuals or panels of speakers, comprised of AWAF membership and those in our network of industry influencers, connect with high school classrooms and other student-based organizations (in person and virtually) to discuss education, careers in the automotive and mobility industries, and the realities of professional life after high school. Some of the many, candid topics covered can include:
- What to expect in college: planning for your career and discovering yourself.
- Career explorations, covering the broader industry or tailored to a specific field of interest, such as engineering, trades, or business.
- The value of STEM education across all careers, and thinking outside the box of core science and engineering positions.
- Navigating the world of internships.
- Personal stories of success, failures and lessons learned, overcoming adversity, and the importance of diverse representation.
- Networking: how, who, and why.
- Options to include special workshops: resume building, how to build and use a LinkedIn profile effectively, and mock interviews.
