AWAF STEM Committee Request for Information and Volunteers
The STEM Committee is seeking members with personal or professional connections to K-12 institutions and school districts in the state of Michigan to help expand our HER Story volunteer program outreach. If you know a district, school, or educator in the state that is interested in beginning or in need of support in their existing initiatives on STEM, the auto industry, and/or general career/college mentorship, please send their contact information or have them reach out to us at the contact information below. Preference will be given to schools and districts that are the most underserved.
The STEM Committee is also seeking information on existing, STEM-driven programs in schools or other learning institutions and organizations with a need for volunteer support, e.g. STEMinista with the Detroit Science Center or the Hidden Genius Project, in an effort to increase our outreach into new areas and support similar efforts as an ally. We ask that membership please share any volunteer opportunities they are aware of so that the STEM Committee may keep a rolling list and make effort to support these organizations.
We ask that membership please share if they are interested in volunteering with the STEM Committee at any of these future opportunities. This would be a separate volunteer pool than that for the HER Story speakers, if you are participating.
For questions, comments, or resource sharing on the above and beyond, please contact Riley Keehn ([email protected]), AWAF VP of STEM, and Maya Makhlouf ([email protected]), HER Story Program Co-lead.
AWAF Is A 501(C)3 Organization
