The Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation kicked off the 2022 Automotive Heritage Awards at M1Concourse on August 19, 2022 by presenting a $2,500 scholarship in the name of the Automotive Heritage Foundation to Madison Blood, who just graduated from high school and is headed this fall to College for Creative Studies in Detroit to begin the pursuit of a career as a car designer.

AWAF executive advisory council member and CEO at the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Carla Bailo, began the presentation with insightful comments on the future of automobile enthusiasm.

Automotive Heritage Lifetime Achievement Award presented by AHF rounded out the event with a tribute to Patrick Bedard, one of the most beloved and respected auto writers in the business who spent more than forty years at Car and Driver as tech editor, reviewer of cars, columnist, and gadfly. Pat’s “voice,” or writing style, is colorful, creative, concise, and entertaining. He is the kind of writer who inspired many Car and Driver subscribers to go first to his column when they got a new issue.

Pat was introduced and lauded by his friends and colleagues Don Sherman and Csaba Csere, both past Lifetime Achievement honorees. The three of these gentlemen represent more than 25 years of technical leadership at Car and Driver magazine.
