Volunteer presenters needed for “AWAF Driven to STEM Series – Her Story”

Are you in an automotive STEM career and want to share your STEM story?  Or do you know somebody who does?  The AWAF STEM committee is looking for you! 

We need 3 volunteers to present in the new “AWAF Driven to STEM Series – Her Story.”  This series will share the journey of 3 women in automotive STEM careers to Detroit high school students this fall.  The purpose of the series is to show students role models of women in STEM and encourage students to enter STEM careers.  Additional details of the series are below.  If you are interested in speaking or if you have questions, please contact Sara Mohon ([email protected]). 

 “AWAF Driven to STEM Series – Her Story”

Target audience: high schoolers (female and male)
Target presenters: AWAF members (or friends!) in automotive STEM careers
Where: virtual or in person
Cornerstone Health + Technology High School

 Timeline:
Specific date and time will be chosen to suit the presenter’s schedule
October:          Presenter 1 (40 minutes)
November:      Presenter 2 (40 minutes)
December:      Presenter 3 (40 minutes)

Presenter guidelines: 
Create PowerPoint about your automotive STEM journey.  Use the following questions as a guide to create powerpoint.  Target 30 minutes presentation.  Additional 10 minutes for questions.

• When did you first become interested in STEM?
• How did you choose your college major and/or degree(s)?
• How did you find your first job?
• What strategy (if any) did you follow during your career progression?
• Looking back on your career, what advice would you give high school students interested in a STEM career?
