Mentors Needed to Guide AWAF Scholarship Recipients
What a wonderful member opportunity! Please consider becoming a mentor for our upcoming 2021 AWAF Summer Mentor program!
Concept:
A mentoring program designed to encourage and nurture the professional development of AWAF scholarship recipients.
Who:
Mentees - Mentee participants will consist of AWAF scholarship recipients, current and past.
Mentors - We wish to develop a pool of at least 20 experienced AWAF mentors to ensure we can create successful matches in terms of experience, time and availability. It is preferred that the mentor candidates are active members within AWAF.
What/Where:
The program content will consist of at least six one-on-one meetings with a mentor and mentee - by phone, Zoom, Facetime, Skype, etc. In addition, the program will be enhanced with mentee only and mentor only networking sessions, in addition to a mentee-mentor networking mixer. The mentoring pair will discuss questions, challenges and learnings related to career planning, work-life balance, self-confidence and personal influence, among other topics.
When:
The program kickoff date is May 17, 2021, to September 30, 2021.
How:
All Mentee applicants are requested to submit biographical and career information that will help assist in the matching process. Mentor pairs will be advised by May 7 so that they can begin to connect and schedule their meetings. During the kickoff week of the program, mentors will receive best practices training on how to be an effective mentor, as well as review the basic expectations of the role. Mentees will also receive training on expectations in an effort to develop a very productive and effective mentee-mentor relationship
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Alexandra Warren at [email protected] by April 2.
