McKenna begins in the fall of 2015 as a freshman at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, to study finance. She is academically ranked #1 at her high school, is co-president of STAND (Students Taking Action Not Drugs), has competed in varsity golf all four years, is a 2nd degree black belt, and is involved in numerous volunteer activities. What sets McKenna apart from the rest was her chance meeting of a NASCAR driver as a child, becoming a fan, and eventually it led to becoming a competitive sprint car driver. It wasn’t just the driving experience that excited her but the will to learn the mechanics by volunteering for crew jobs to be able to work on her own car. In 2014, she became the highest finishing female at the Sprint Car Capital of the World: Knoxville Raceway and continues to race in 2015.
McKenna’s desire to study finance started when she was 14 years old and made her first stock market investment in the 3D printing industry. She has dreams after college of becoming an investor and business owner in this industry and believes it has a strong potential for application in the world of automotive. Her family, academics, and racing have taught her first-hand about team work, marketing and promotion, competitiveness and respect, public speaking, and giving back to her community in Des Moines, Iowa. Undoubtedly her future will reach greater heights.
