Demi Outman

Demi graduates high school from Notre Dame Preparatory (NDP) in Pontiac, Michigan, and will begin college at the University of Michigan in the fall of 2013.  Her interested major of mechanical engineering focuses her career path into the automotive industry. Demi, while participating in FIRST Lego League during middle school, became interested in engineering. She went on to complete four years of participation on her high school FIRST Robotics Team. She has worked on the pit crew, checking the robots chassis during competitions, and has been a spokesperson, promoting science and technology in the community, specifically to many potential team sponsors and government officials.  Her future engineering interests include designing structural components of cars, formulating materials and colors for interiors of vehicles, and aspiring to be involved in program management.


Demi has numerous honors and awards, notably being given the NASA Women in STEM high school aerospace scholar program scholarship, achieving VEX Robotics Cranbrook Competition finalist, being an Academic scholar highest honor student, and winning various FIRST Robotics awards: the Kettering District Finalist, the Kettering District Winner, the Michigan State Championship Chairman’s Award Winner, and the World Championship Archimedes Division Finalist. She has been actively involved in high school sports, the NDP Color Guard, the NDP National Honors Society. She volunteers in many community events, in addition to dedicating her time as a mentor for FIRST Lego League teams. Comments from her recommendation letters surmise her high level of academic motivation driven by her diligence, meticulous preparation, and maturity. She is respected by all in the Notre Dame community.  Demi is on the rise and AWAF is proud of what she is and will become. Her hometown is Davisburg, Michigan.
