Sally is in her fourth year out of five years studying Chemical Engineering at The Ohio State University. She interned at three companies since 2014; Anomatic, Apple, and Tesla, gaining valuable experiences in process control engineering, manufacturing design and facilities engineering. At her latest internship, Sally was challenged to improve the Tesla Gigafactory's building air supply systems and built a maintenance management system from scratch for maintenance technicians to receive work orders and track work being done on building appliances. The experience honed her communication abilities through frequent presentations and technical writing, and hands-on with various software in maintenance management, CAD, Design of Experiments, project management and industrial safety. Sally urges women not to rule out the automotive industry just because they don’t know anything about cars, “In the manufacturing environment of the auto industry, it is important to have facilities engineers to work on the systems that support manufacturing.” Sally’s hometown is Columbus, Ohio. The scholarship was sponsored by The Ohio State University.
