Emily will be attending Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in the fall of 2016. She plans to major in mechanical engineering. Her interest in automobiles started at a young age, and included working as a pit crew member for her little brother’s Pinewood Derby entry. She is drawn to the challenges engineering presents, and looks forward to the opportunity to stretch herself intellectually and creatively, in the auto industry. Emily served as a robotics counselor at the Holton-Arms School Summer Camp for four years, sharing her love of engineering with the summer campers. Her athletic endeavors include being the team captain of her school’s junior varsity hockey team. She was co-president of her school’s Spectrum Organization – LGBTQ, as well as founding member and editor of the school’s Medical Research Club. Her hometown is Windsor Connecticut. The scholarship was sponsored by Detroit Manufacturing Systems.
