Geraghty Anne Ellis

Awarded $2,500 on 4/10/2016

Geraghty Anne Ellis is a graduate from Bishop Verot Catholic High School in Fort Myers, Florida and will attend Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. Her automotive interest began at an early age as her father's "little grease monkey." As a teenager she became involved in Autocross, a timed competition in which drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course on either a sealed or an unsealed surface. It is a form of motorsports that emphasizes safe competition and active participation. To gain more understanding of the sport, she purchased a Mazda NA Miata chassis and shell and spent a summer building her first car. Geraghty Anne has been part of STEM club throughout high school, involved in several skill building events such as solar boat competition, solar cook-off, Edison Invention Challenge, and FGCU Solar Go Kart. She also holds an officer post in the National Honor Society and was a Commended Student in the National Merit Program. Outside of school, she is working toward a 3rd Degree black belt and interned at an automobile repair shop. Geraghty Anne is determined to earn her Mechanical Engineering degree and envisions her career working on chassis or engine design and development. AWAF and Meritor are very proud to include her among our alumni of scholarship recipients.  The scholarship was sponsored by Meritor.
