Kaitlyn is the 2011 Valedictorian at Robert E Lee High School, Baytown, Texas. She will attend Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado to major in mechanical engineering with a concentration in robotics. Her interests began as a freshman, joining the FIRST robotics club. She quickly discovered the pathway to use her math and science aptitude toward a future in robotics and is determined to transform the auto industry and the art of driving through the science of robotics. Kaitlyn was involved in numerous school activities throughout her four years including; Student Body Vice President, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society President, chess team President, French club President, National Honor Society VP, robotics team President, Senior Student Activity Fund President, Chairman of the Academic Honesty committee, tennis varsity team captain, theatre, debate team, and many more. She has volunteered at numerous community functions such as creating digital book trailers to encourage children to read, providing helping hands with a local food bank, Red Cross, Relay for Life, Special Olympics, Shiners’ Undie Day, YMCA activities, and clean-up along waterways and parks. AWAF recognizes Kaitlyn as a rising star with great potential for any direction she takes in her future. Her continued motivation to excel in the academics, have fun and give back to the community will undoubtedly form her into a dynamic professional woman.
