Sophia is an incoming freshman at The Ohio State University with plans to pursue a degree in material science engineering. She was involved in the Women in Engineering program at OSU since middle school. The WiE program provided the opportunity to learn about the many types of engineering, early hands on application experience and a family of engineers influenced her decision to pursue a career in engineering.
Sophia is a public speaker and guest lecturer on the topic of autism since the age of 11. She lectured at The Ohio State University, Autism Speaks/Autism Treatment Network, and Center of Science and Industry (COSI). She enjoys the performing arts having participated in choir and costume designing, hair and make up for numerous theater performances. She was part of the golf and swimming teams in high school and volunteered at numerous local community activities. Sophia graduated from The Wellington School in Columbus Ohio. The scholarship was sponsored by Ricardo Inc.
