Sonia is an incoming freshman at The Ohio State University, College of Engineering.  Her interest in automotive began in the high school classroom where they built prototypes of solar paneled vehicles, mouse trap powered cars and boats made of recyclable material.  A follow-on course in her senior year led to building a hovercraft using ordinary household and lawn components.  Also, she interned with Buckeye Current Racing at the Center of Automotive Research (CAR) and learned to write electrical schematics and application experience with various components on a circuit board to support the production of an all-electric motorcycle.

Sonia is very involved in her community as the event director and treasurer of a non-profit organization, Service and Interact Club, which supports local needs in her community.  Her extracurricular activities include varsity tennis captain, Indian dance captain and worked part-time.  She is a recent high school graduate of Oletangy Liberty High School, Powell Ohio.  The scholarship was sponsored by McKechnie Vehicle Components USA.
