AWAF Gives Record Number of Scholarships at This Year's Swinging FORE Scholarships Golf Outing

West Bloomfield, MI–Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation (AWAF) announces six scholarship recipients to be awarded at their annual Swinging FORE Scholarship Golf Outing. The presentation of the scholarships will be August 18, 2014 at Tam-O-Shanter Country Club.

The AWAF’s annual Golf Outing is an 18 hole scramble to raise funds to support AWAF’s Scholarship program.  Scholarships are awarded to female, North American citizens, with a passion for a career or advancement in the automotive and its related industries. In order to be eligible for a scholarship, applicants should be already accepted to or enrolled in an accredited collegiate program, with a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Funded by donations from sponsors and proceeds from events, including the annual golf outing, each recipient is awarded $2,500. Since 2001, a total of $217,000 has been awarded to women looking to enter or advance their career in automotive. The six recipients of the 2014 AWAF Swinging FORE golf outing scholarship program include:

Last year was a record-breaker for AWAF in terms of both scholarship funds raised and awarded at our annual Swinging FORE Scholarships golf outing – historically our biggest fundraiser of the year for our scholarship program.  But records are made to be broken – and we’ve done that with our 2014 event!  In partnership with our very generous sponsors, AWAF is thrilled to be awarding $15,000 in scholarships to 6 very deserving young women,” Said Sherry Muir-Irwin, President of AWAF. “That’s the most money awarded to the greatest number of recipients at any one event in AWAF history!  It’s going to be a great day!
