Diamond Anniversary Event - Chrysler Museum

SMASHING, that is the word for our 10th Anniversary Celebration. It was a smashing success and the women and men were equally fabulous. Three cheers for the event and the team that worked so hard to make it happen.

The evening started off with a VIP reception where our honorary chairs and sponsors were present. Great conversations were had while being serenaded by a string quartet from Oakland University. Lorine Mays delivered a candid speech and touched on the organization’s successes over the last 10 years. With over

$170,000.00 given in scholarships since the foundation was formed, AWAF really did have a reason to celebrate.

After the reception, everyone enjoyed fantastic music by Straight Ahead, a unique strolling dinner and casual networking. As guests wandered the museum, all were in high spirits and many shared their pride in being members of AWAF. It’s no wonder we picked up new members at the celebration.

Kim Ziomek, AWAF President, delivered a heartfelt speech about the foundation and the phenomenal women she has had the privilege to work with over the years. Lin Cummins, Kathleen Ligocki, Carla Bailo, Maureen LaFontaine and Fran Bachman to name a few were recognized for their tremendous support. We unveiled our new logo to great applause (notice our new newsletter format) and Jane Bishop awarded our newest aspiring automotive woman, Amy Allison, with a $2500.00 scholarship.

The night moved on and our silent auction was a success enabling us to add to our scholarship fund. Diamonds were abundant and a lucky winner and AWAF member, Emily Hospodar of Nissan NA, came away with a set of stunning 1 carat diamond earrings at the end of the evening donated by MB Jewelry Design and Manufacturing.
